TAWAU GREEN ENERGY SDN BHD
In April 2011, the government has introduced the Renewable Energy Act 2011 (RE Act 2011), as a mean to intensify and encourage power generation using renewable energy (RE) among the public and private sector. Geothermal energy, which previously has not been listed in the RE Act 2011, has been gazetted on 5th May 2015 by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA).  Following this, TGE, the developer of Malaysia's first geothermal power plant, has received Feed-in Approval Certificate by Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) on 2nd July 2015.

Subsequent with the receipt of Feed-in Approval Certificate, TGE then entered into a 21-year feed-in tariff (FiT) agreement with Sabah state electricity utility authority, Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB) under the FiT Renewable Power Purchase Agreement (FiT REPPA) effective from 2nd July 2015. Under this agreement, TGE's 30MW Geothermal Power Plant, will receive a tariff rate of RM0.45/kWh.
