Occupation permit for 50-year period was received from Sabah Forestry Department (SFD). This will enable TGE to conduct exploration surveys and later construct the power plant within the Mt. Andrassy Forest Reserve.

FiT Approval
Subsequent to the site visit by SEDA delegation on 9 April 2012, SEDA (Sustainable Energy Development Authority) has agreed in principle that geothermal technology will be classified as one of the Renewable Energy technologies that qualify for Tariff Incentives (Feed-in Tariff, FiT) in accordance with the Renewable Energy Act of 2011. As such, TGE's geothermal power plant project will be eligible for the FiT rate.

TGE signed the ERPA with a reputed Certified Emission Reductions (CER) offtaker on 9 August 2011. With the signing of the ERPA, TGE now has a buyer commited to offtake all of the available CERs from the project.

Stakeholders' Meeting
As required under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) protocol, TGE conducted a Stakeholders' Meeting at Kg. Tass, Andrassy, Tawau on 20 July 2011. Almost 200 participants, comprising  local residents, government officials, NGOs and representatives from local electronic and print media attended the meeting. Much positive feedback was received from participants, enabling TGE to proceed to registering the project with UNFCCC.

SCORE Approval
At a meeting on 21 April 2011, the Special Committee On Renewable Energy (SCORE), under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, approved TGE's application for the project to be categorized under the Small Renewable Energy Programme (SREP). The approval allows TGE to now commence negotiations with SESB for the Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreement (REPPA).
